Utah Sweeps Green Bay to Close Out the Utah Classic

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball closed out the opening weekend of competition with a clean sweep of Green Bay, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-21). Utah improves to 3-0 to start the season, capping off the Utah Classic with wins over UTEP (3-0), Utah State (3-1) and Green Bay (3-0).
 
Kamryn Gibadlo claimed Utah Classic MVP honors, putting down 36 kills in three matches, averaging 3.60 kills per set and hitting .378. Vanessa Ramirez earned All-Classic Libero honors, with 25 digs on the weekend, averaging 3.13 digs per set. Fellow All-Classic honorees for the Utes were Emrie Satuala and Rianne Vos. Satuala accumulated 14 blocks with 16 kills throughout the weekend. Vos came off a career-high night against Utah State, where she tallied 14 kills, finishing the weekend with 20 total kills, hitting .529 to get the season started.
 
Utah dominated the first two sets, holding the Phoenix to a .000 or negative hitting percentage throughout the two sets. The Utes opened the match by going on a 5-0 scoring run with Gibadlo putting down five kills in the first set alone. Utah forced a Green Bay timeout midway through the set after a five-point run. The Utes continued their momentum with a 10-2 run, extending Utah’s advantage, 22-10.
