Utah Tallies Second Consecutive Top 20 Sweep Taking Down #18 Baylor

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball posts a statement win, taking down #18 Baylor 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-21), making it the second consecutive top 20 sweep for the Utes. Utah has won back-to-back top 25 matches on their home floor for the first time since 2019, after defeating then #7 Kentucky (3-0) and #23 Cal Poly (3-2) to begin the season during the Utah Classic.
 
Improving to 15-2 on the season and 5-1 in Big 12 competition, Utah has now won three consecutive matches by way of the 3-0 decision and a total of 10 sweeps on the season.
 
Utah took an early lead in set one, using a Claranne Fechter service rally, getting kills from Lauren Jardine and Kamryn Gibadlo to find some separation. The Utes maintained a four-point advantage at the midway point of the set, winning the race to 15 and holding a 16-12 advantage coming off the Rianne Vos kill. Baylor battled back in the late stages of the set, taking the first lead of the match at 18-19, as the two sides would continue to trade points. Utah found some separation after the set was tied at 21, the Utes closed out the set getting a spark from the Gibadlo ace followed by back-to-back blocks coming from Emrie Satuala/Kamry Bailey, and Satuala/Vos. Satuala was a staple in the early action, putting down the final kill for the Utes, sealing the first-set victory, 25-21.
