Utah Volleyball Announces Addition of Alyssa D'Errico as Assistant Coach

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah volleyball head coach Beth Launiere announced the addition of Alyssa D’Errico to the coaching staff on Wednesday, welcoming the former professional player and four-time national champion at Penn State to the program immediately.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Alyssa join the Utah Volleyball staff,” said Launiere. “Her history of excellence as a player is unparalleled, and she brings that same elite mentality and leadership to her coaching. As I made calls to colleagues about potential candidates, her name was always at the top of the list. She is considered one of the best young coaches in our game and I have no doubt will have an immediate impact on our program.”

D’Errico joins the Utes from the University of Dayton where she was the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. During her six years at Dayton, D’Errico specialized in the blocking and defensive efforts on-court, while she was involved in all aspects of recruiting and program-wide decisions. D’Errico guided the Flyers to two A-10 Regular Season Championships (2020, 2021) and four A-10 Tournament Championships (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). Under her guidance, Dayton saw two athletes earn A-10 Libero of the Year honors during D’Errico’s coaching stint. She also coached four All-Americans and led the Dayton defense to a top-30 ranking in 2020 and 2021.

“First, I would like to thank Mark Harlan, Charmelle Green, Jason Greco, and of course Beth Launiere for this amazing opportunity to join the Ute family,” said D’Errico. “From the moment I first spoke to Beth about this position, I knew she was a head coach that I would learn an incredible amount from in this profession. After further conversations and getting the chance to step on campus, I saw that the University of Utah was a special place with an already storied volleyball history, as well as what I believe will be an elite future.”

D’Errico continued, “Ultimately, for me it was the people I had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with that made this decision a no brainer. I am so excited to get to work with the Utah volleyball family and work towards competitive excellence on a daily basis. I cannot wait to start training with the team and work on building relationships with all of the players. I am beyond thrilled to take the next step in my…
