Utah Volleyball Announces Big 12 Schedule

Irving, Tex. – Utah Volleyball has announced its 2024 Big 12 conference schedule. The Utes will play 18 matches over 10 weeks, while playing 10 teams once and four teams twice. The 2024 season will mark the debut of Utah in the league, when conference action begins for the Utes on Thursday, Sept. 26.

“The release of this schedule solidifies the reality of our new conference. It’s exciting to learn about the new teams we’ll play and cities we’ll visit,” said head coach Beth Launiere. “It’s a new era for our University, Athletics Department, and Volleyball Program and we’re ready to get started in the Big 12.”

Utah will open its season at home hosting Texas Tech (Sept. 26) before welcoming in Colorado (Sept. 29) to Salt Lake City for its first set of conference matches. Utah will hit the road the following weekend, heading to the desert to play at Arizona State (Oct. 2) and Arizona (Oct. 4), and then return home to face TCU (Oct. 10) and Baylor (Oct. 12) in the Huntsman Center.

Utah returns to the road for three matches in October, traveling to BYU (Oct. 19) and Kansas State (Oct. 24), before closing out the trip with a match in Lawrence to take on Kansas (Oct. 26). The Utes return home to Salt Lake City hosting Arizona for a Halloween match (Oct. 31) and Arizona State (Nov. 2). Utah will make a midweek trip to take on familiar foe Colorado (Nov. 6), before returning home for the second half of the rivalry match with BYU (Nov. 8).

The Utes will make their longest trip of the new conference schedule, traveling to Houston (Nov. 14) and Central Florida (Nov. 16). The regular season winds down with a pair of home matches, as the Utes welcome in West Virginia (Nov. 21) and Cincinnati (Nov. 24). Utah will make one final trip to close out the regular season, traveling to Iowa State (Nov. 27).

The Big 12 finished the 2023 season with five ranked teams, the most for the league since 2009 and tied for the most in Big 12 history. The five teams tied for the most of any league and the Conference was the only league with at least five ranked teams and seven teams selected to the NCAA Tournament.

Beginning this fall, the Big 12 volleyball lineup will consist of Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, K-State, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and West Virginia.
