NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt volleyball assistant coach/offensive coordinator Lauren Plum has been named an assistant coach on the U21 National Team it was announced by USA Volleyball Wednesday.
As a student-athlete, Plum was a member of the USA Junior National Team that competed at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, and the UA2 National Team Training Squad from 2014-17.
Plum entered the coaching ranks as an assistant at Villanova, and after two seasons on the Wildcats’ staff she then served as a volunteer assistant at Notre Dame during the 2022 campaign. With the Fighting Irish she was responsible for implementing and executing serving and setting scouting reports, assisting with overall scouting reports, and team and individual film reviews. She also has coaching experience with the East Coast Power VBC.
The U21 National Team will be competing at the 2023 FIVB Women’s U21 World Championship in Aguascalientes and Lèon, Mexico, from Aug. 17-26. The United States, looking for its first-ever medal at the event, will have matches against Cuba, Turkey and the Netherlands in pool play. A total of 16 countries will be competing in the tournament.
