VB Heads To Sunshine State For A Pair Of ACC Matches


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Tar Heels are heading South to the weekend, hitting the road for a pair of matches in the Sunshine State.

Carolina opens ACC road play on Friday, facing Florida State at 6:30 p.m., before traveling to Miami for a 1 p.m. matchup against the Hurricanes.  The Tar Heels (7-4, 1-1 ACC) are looking for their first wins against FSU and Miami since 2019. 

 

SERIES BREAKDOWN

vs. Florida State (8-6, 2-0 ACC)

Friday, Sep. 29 – 6:30 p.m.

Series: Florida State leads the series 47-25

Last time: Florida State defeated UNC in four sets in Tallahassee on Nov. 18, 2022

In Tallahassee: Florida State is 31-7 against UNC at home

Trend: The Seminoles have won the last four matchups over the Tar Heels. Carolina’s last win in Tallahassee was a five-set victory on Nov. 17, 2019

Trend: The Hurricanes have won the last four matchups over the Tar Heels. Carolina’s last win in Coral Gables was a four-set victory on Nov. 4, 2016

  • After the first weekend of conference play, Sadie Swift leads the ACC in blocks, averaging 2.33 blocks per set
  • Emani’ Foster owns the fourth-most career kills per set average of any athlete in the country, averaging 4.40 kills per set
  • Sophomore Ava Swain in the only Florida native on the Carolina roster
  • Mabrey Shaffmaster is averaging 3.68 kills per set, the third-most kills of any player on the season in the ACC
