Quincy, IL- The Vikings hit the road for their final game of the weekend where they squared off against Quincy University. The Vikings keep their momentum going from this week’s previous matchups as they were able to secure another three-set sweep, 25-22, 25-19, 25-17. –
Set 1: Grand View University 25 | Quincy University 22
The Vikings came out swinging as they quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead, this was led by a Daniel Galili (SO/Shomrat, Israel) kill and as well as helping combine for a block with Nicolas Vattier (SO/Santiago, Chile). Vattier would add two more blocks in a row right after that. After a short Quincy run Zeo Meyer (JR/Wheaton, IL ) got the Vikings rolling again when he added two of his own kills, before assisting on the next 4 Viking points. Bayron Valdez (JR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) got things cooking late in the match as he added his own kill to the Viking’s score. This helped set up teammate Daniel Wong (SR/Campbell, CA ) to register a block just before the set ended. Vikings take set number 1 by three points, 25-22.
Set 2: Grand View University 25 | Quincy University 19
Quincy University got active early as they traded points with the Vikings before Grand View was able to put together a 7-0 run to put them up 9-4 leading into a Quincy timeout. Shortly after the timeout the Vikings got back to work with Nickolas Lima (FR/Curitiba, Brazil )’s kill assisted by Erick Cordero. Wong wanted to get in on the action as he was able to tack on his first kill of the second set helping stretch the GV lead to 5, 14-9. Valdez helped keep the Viking’s scoring rolling as he was able to tack on another three crucial kills toward the end of the set. Just before Lima was able to put the game away with a kill assisted by Meyer, set number 2 goes to the Vikings 25-19.
Set 3: Grand View University 25 | Quincy University 17
Cordero got the third set started as he registered the first point of the set. Wong added another two kills shortly after helping keep the Vikings in front. After a short run where the teams exchanged points, Galili got another kill giving the Vikings a surge of momentum. The Vikings were assisted by several errors from Quincy helping stretch the lead to 16-8. Valdez and Galili were relied on late to help propel the Vikings forward before Meyer sealed the deal with the final kill of the game. The Vikings head home as winners of the…
