Washington College

Needing to win as much as possible over the final 15 days of the regular season to earn its third straight Centennial Conference playoff berth, the Muhlenberg volleyball team got off to a good start with a 3-1 win at McDaniel.

The Mules (9-11, 3-4) are currently in seventh place, one spot out of the final berth, with matches yet to play against fellow contenders Washington College (1-5), Haverford (3-2) and Dickinson (3-3).

After the teams split the first two sets, Muhlenberg came back from a 10-7 deficit to take the pivotal third set. The Mules scored seven of their 25 points on aces, with freshman Megan Bagrosky serving three in a 6-0 run that turned the deficit into a 13-10 lead. Sophomore Jenny Ryan served a pair of aces, junior Christina Marcin added one, and sophomore Chloe Gaglione finished off the 25-17 win with an ace of her own.

Muhlenberg jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the fourth set, closing out the match with a 25-14 win.

Marcin finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 13 digs, adding 5 aces, including the 100th of her career. Bagrosky also served up 5 aces to go along with a match- and career-high 16 digs.

Senior Rachel Jacobs led the offense with 11 kills, hitting double figures for the second straight match, while freshman Abigail Oswari tied her career high of 10 kills. Freshman Olivia Bruno added 8 in just 18 attempts.
