WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue volleyball head coach Dave Shondell welcomes Ainise Havili as the volunteer assistant coach and Ben Cutrone as the graduate manager.
“I’m so grateful for our entire support staff that makes this program so successful,” said Shondell. “Ainise has remarkable playing experience and quality experience in the coaching arena. Ben brings great energy and selflessness to our team with several years of experience managing with the Penn State program. Our players will benefit greatly from this group of young and talented volleyball enthusiasts.”
Havili, a three-time AVCA All-American with the Kansas Jayhawks, joins the Purdue staff as the volunteer assistant coach. During her time as a Jayhawk (2014-17), Havilli became the first player in Big 12 Conference history to be named Big 12 Setter of the Year. Additionally, Havili’s success led to four First Team All-Big 12 and AVCA All-Midwest Region First Team accolades and culminated in becoming Kansas’ all-time assists leader.
Following her collegiate career, Havili played overseas from 2019-21 for the Allianz MTV Stuttgart in Germany (2019-2020) and Karayollari Spor Kulubu in Turkey (2020-21) before returning stateside. Since then, the former setter served as an assistant coach for the Texas Image Volleyball Club while working for Signature Consultants as a recruiter.
Havili graduated from Kansas in May 2018 with a bachelor of science in sport management and a master’s in marketing from Arizona in 2019 while competing for the Wildcats’ beach volleyball team.
Cutrone graduated cum laude from Penn State in 2021 with a bachelor of science in supply chain management and minors in management information systems, legal environment of business and sociology. While a student, Cutrone served as a manager for the Penn State volleyball team, where he worked with student-athletes to develop skill in and outside of practice, help implement game plans during matches, scouted opponents and oversaw logistical needs during practice and matches.
Additionally, Cutrone was head coach of the Central Penn club team in winter 2020 after serving as the assistant coach for a year in the club system. Most recently, Cutrone comes from Frito-Lay, where he served as facility operations manager in Burlington, New Jersey.
