Volleyball Adds Transfer To 2023 Roster

Setter Paige Morningstar Joins Bears From Louisville

BERKELEY – California volleyball has further increased its stock heading into the 2023 season, adding one of the nation’s top 2021 recruits in transfer sophomore Paige Morningstar.

A 6-foot-0 setter from Pittsburgh, Morningstar spent the previous two seasons with the powerhouse Louisville Cardinals, who ended the 2022 season with an appearance in the NCAA Championship match and a No. 2 national ranking. As a high school player, she was named the USAToday National High School Girls Athlete of the Year and MaxPreps National High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2021, with five Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state titles (four volleyball, one basketball) and six regional titles (three apiece).

Morningstar also played for the Renaissance club team, reaching the national championships multiple times in her young career and earning All-America recognition by PrepVolleyball in 2019.

“Paige is a great addition to our program,” said head coach Sam Crosson. “She is highly motivated to succeed and has a great understanding of the game. Her athleticism, decision-making ability and leadership skills on the court are immense, and we look forward to her development and the potential impact that she can make on Cal volleyball going forward.”
