The Brenau volleyball team split a pair of road matches as the squad fell to Bluefield (Va.) University (18-25, 25-21, 21-25, 21-25), but rallied with a victory against Kentucky Christian (26-24, 25-23, 25-14) in Appalachian Athletic Conference competition this past weekend.
Against Bluefield, the Golden Tigers lost the first set 18-25, but rallied in the second set to win 25-21 and even the match at 1-1. Brenau kept it close in the final two frames, but were unable to pull off the victory.
Senior outside hitter Mary Ellen Enright led all hitters with 21 kills and setter Gabrielle Hogle had 40 assists.
In the second match of the weekend, the Brenau attack helped the Golden Tigers roll past Kentucky Christian in three sets to earn a split on the weekend.
Senior libero Julieanne Saliba led Brenau with 16 digs and junior outside hitter Chloe Bennett added 11 kills.
The Golden Tigers posted a .309 hitting percentage in the victory to the Crusaders’ .216 percentage.
Brenau (6-11 overall, 4-5 AAC) next hosts Point (Ga.) University (7-9 overall, 4-5 AAC) on Tuesday at 7 pm eastern.
