Volleyball Falls in Three Sets to LSU Sunday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball fell in a hard-fought three set contest against LSU Sunday afternoon at Foster Auditorium by set scores of 21-25, 23-25 and 20-25.

Alabama (10-10, 0-9 SEC) made a late push in set one, trimming LSU’s (8-10, 3-5 SEC) lead to 23-21 before the Tigers scored back-to-back to take the frame. The Crimson Tide led 15-10 halfway through set two before LSU rallied to tie it at 16-16 and eventually took the lead at 19-18 and held it for the rest of the set. Alabama got off to a fast start again in set three, leading 16-11 before the Tigers moved in front at 17-16 and held on for the five-point win to clinch the match.

Kendyl Reaugh led the team with 18 kills, now owning 930 for her career as she continues to approach the 1,000 kill mark. Reaugh also hit .390, her highest hitting percentage in conference play this season. Freshman Jordyn Towns also made her first career start after making her SEC debut in the previous match against South Carolina.

“Obviously you’re disappointed with a loss but there were a lot of good things happening. We had four freshmen out there doing some special things. I’m a competitor and of course I want to win but we saw some good things out of our side out there. Being Alumni Day, it’s incredibly important for them to be a part of this process and have our current players realize they’re part of something much bigger than themselves. There’s a special bond there, they’ve both been through the trenches and done it at a special place like Alabama. It’s important to be able to share those stories and it’s special to be a part of that.”
