Volleyball falls to Ole Miss

Oxford, Miss. – University of Missouri volleyball battled it out against Ole Miss with Alabama, where an impressive first-set helped propel the Rebels to a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 31-29, 25-21) on Wednesday night.

Mizzou (8-10, 1-7 SEC) started flat early first-set give Ole Miss (8-1, 4-4 SEC) the early lead. The Tigers were unable to start a come giving the Rebels the first set

The second set saw the Tigers battle from start to finish, keeping the score within a couple of points for most of the stanza. Mizzou kept the set alive at 29-29, but an powerful kill and attacking error closed out the second set in the home team’s favor, 31-29.

Mizzou kept the final set close trading points, but the Tigers were unable to close out the match. Ole Miss took the third set, 25-21.

Senior Anna Dixon led the Tigers for the sixth-time in the last seven matches, producing 12 kills to reach double-digits for the seventh-consecutive match. Sophomore Kaylee Cox added another 10 terminations, while sophomore lefty chipped in nine.

Ole Miss’s trio of Anna Bair (16) Kaite Corelli (11) and Payton Brgoch (10) reached double-digit kills.
