The Muhlenberg volleyball team played tough against one of the top programs in the Centennial Conference.

Despite getting swept, the Mules (7-7, 0-2) pushed Swarthmore to the brink in the last two sets of a 25-16, 25-23, 29-27 match. The Garnet (9-3, 2-1) has qualified for the CC playoffs each of the last seven seasons. When the teams met last year, Muhlenberg did not score more than 17 points in any set.

The Mules led 23-21 in the second set before Swarthmore called a timeout and ran off the final four points.

The third set was tight after Muhlenberg overcame an early 7-2 deficit to draw even at 14-14. The Mules took their first lead at 23-22 and served with a chance to win the set at both 25-24 and 26-25 before Swarthmore finally ended the match.

Junior Isabella Pontrelli led a balanced Muhlenberg attack with 9 kills. Sophomore Esmae Oehler added 8, and senior Amirah Moody (pictured above) put down a career-high 7 in only 14 attempts.

Senior Emma Eglinton matched her season high of 20 digs to go along with 28 assists, which put her over 1,500 assists in her career.
