THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball and coach Michelle Collier announced the signing of North Carolina transfer middle blocker Liv Mogridge to the 2023 roster on Wednesday.

Mogridge comes to The Flats on the heels of an all-conference selection in her first collegiate season, landing on the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2022. En route to earning those honors, the Lutz, Fla., native finished second on her former squad with 87 total blocks (10 solo, 77 assisted) after competing in all 29 matches through the season, including 28 starts. Mogridge also provided firepower to the Tar Heel attack, racking up 141 kills (.272%) on the year to rank fourth amongst her previous unit.

Over the course of her freshman campaign, the incoming Yellow Jacket registered season bests of 13 kills on a .600 hitting percentage in a victory over Virginia and five total blocks in six different matches. With top marks of three solo blocks against Florida State and five block assists facing Louisville, Mogridge also fronted North Carolina’s offense with 12 kills in a triumph over storied rival Duke.

Georgia Tech’s acclaimed signee also excelled academically in Chapel Hill, landing on the All-ACC Academic Team in 2022.

Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, Mogrdige was a four-year letter winner in high school as she spent her first two seasons at St. Thomas Aquinas High School before finishing her high school career at Steinbrenner High School. The highly-touted recruit built her reputation as the No. 29 player in the 2022 class on three first team all-county selections as well as three AAU All-American selections. Mogridge highlighted those accolades in 2019 by earning the Broward 7A-6A Volleyball Player of the Year after compiling 320 kills, 25 blocks, 67 digs and 39 aces on the season.

The White and Gold’s new addition also competed at the club level for the OT Clearwater 18 Chad club.

Mogridge’s signing builds up Tech’s recruiting class to eight new Yellow Jackets, including three transfers and five freshmen, four of which are international. The well-rounded recruiting class is now composed of three middle blockers, two hitters, two setters and one defensive specialist.

Tech prepares for the fall following another year for the record books. The Yellow Jackets concluded their 2022 slate at 21-8 overall and 13-5 in ACC play after advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Yellow Jackets reached that mark for the third consecutive season, joining the…
