Volleyball Notches 11 Blocks in Sweep Over UTEP

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern volleyball team totaled 11 blocks on the way to a three-set victory (27-25, 25-21, 25-22) against UTEP (1-1) Friday at home at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats won their first two matches of the season for the fourth time in the last five years. NU claimed its second sweep of the day, after downing Pacific in the morning match.

The Wildcats were led by a double-double from Temi Thomas-Ailara, who registered 10 kills and 11 digs on the day. Hanna Lesiak also added 11 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Megan Miller chipped in 10 digs to go with Desiree Becker’s six blocks.
