MADISON, Wis. – The reigning NCAA champion Wisconsin volleyball team is ranked third in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches poll, released Monday.
Wisconsin (31-3 in 2021) ended the 2021 season, winning the first NCAA championship in program history as well as its third-straight Big Ten Conference title.
Big Ten foe Nebraska (26-8) leads the preseason ranking after finishing as the national runner-up to the Badgers in 2021. Texas (27-2) comes in second in the overall rankings but received three-more first-place votes than the Huskers. Wisconsin picked up 12 first-place votes while No. 4 Louisville (32-1) earned one first-place vote.
The Big Ten leads the poll with seven teams in the top 25 while the Pac-12 Conference picked up six teams in the top 25.
Wisconsin has been ranked in the AVCA national poll for 136 consecutive polls, including the last 39 straight polls in the top 10.
Fans will have a chance to get an early-season look at the Badgers on Saturday when they host their annual Red vs. White scrimmage in the UW Field House. Doors open at 11 a.m. with the match starting at noon. Admission is free.
