Volleyball Recaps Inaugural Big Ten Media Days

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State volleyball team spent Monday afternoon at the Big Ten Network studios participating in the inaugural Big Ten volleyball media days, the first ever conference led media days for collegiate volleyball. Head volleyball coach Leah Johnson, fifth year Rebecka Poljan and junior Nalani Iosia represented the Spartans.

Johnson, Poljan and Iosia talked with reporters and broadcasters throughout the college volleyball landscape to discuss the upcoming 2022 season, which gets underway on Friday, Aug. 26 when Michigan State meets Louisiana in the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational. The Big Ten Network announced its national television schedule for the season, which will feature Michigan State three times throughout the season. Televised matches for the Spartans include the Friday, Sept. 30 match at Maryland, the Thursday, Oct. 6 match against Nebraska and the Friday, Nov. 4 match against Purdue.

“Thank you to the Big Ten,” Johnson said leading off the Spartans’ first media engagement of the afternoon. “What a phenomenal opportunity to be here, to be representing Michigan State at the most elite conference level in the country for volleyball. The Big Ten never fails to set the bar higher and higher. This event is showcasing that. I was telling the student-athletes when we were arriving that some of my biggest joy is watching them get to shine, and this is an event that gives them another platform to do so.”
