Cal Begins Turnaround Campaign With Matches Against Army, SDSU

BERKELEY – California volleyball released its 2022 season schedule on Thursday, providing fans with a series of premier matchups to look forward to as the team sets its sights on a big jump forward in the coming year.

Cal will start off the season by heading to San Diego for a two-day tournament against Army (Aug. 26), San Diego State (Aug. 26) and UC San Diego (Aug. 27), followed by a trip to Orem, Utah, to face Utah Valley (Sept. 1) and Northern Arizona (Sept. 2).

The Bears will then host their own yearly home tournament in Berkeley on Sept. 9-10, featuring matchups against Utah Tech and Tennessee State on the first day and against Nevada on the second day. Following that, they will make a quick trip down to Moraga on Sept. 15 to face the St. Mary’s Gaels before returning to Haas Pavilion for a match against UC Davis (Sept. 17). The Big Spike against Stanford (also at home) kicks off Pac-12 play on Sept. 21 before Cal heads up to Corvallis, Oregon, to battle the Oregon State Beavers.

Both Washington State (Sept. 30) and Washington (Oct. 2) travel down to Haas Pavilion to face the Bears and kick off the second full month of the season before Cal leaves on a two-week road trip to Utah (Oct. 7), Colorado (Oct. 9), Arizona State (Oct. 14) and Arizona (Oct. 16). Matches against USC and UCLA at Haas follow on Oct. 21 and Oct. 23, respectively, before the Bears bookend the month against the Washington schools once again, traveling north to Seattle on Oct. 28 to play the Huskies and Pullman, Washington, on Oct. 30 to face off against the Cougars.

Colorado and Utah will respectively travel to Berkeley on Nov. 4 and Nov. 6 before Cal heads to Los Angeles to face UCLA (Nov. 10) and USC (Nov. 12). A final three-game home slate against Arizona (Nov. 18), Arizona State (Nov. 20) and Oregon (Nov. 23) follows before the Bears close their season out at rival Stanford on Nov. 25.

13 of the Bears’ 2022 matches will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
