Volleyball Sweeps Cedar Crest – Muhlenberg College Athletics

The Muhlenberg volleyball team closed strong in each set in shutting out Cedar Crest at home.

The first two sets were 20-17 late and the third was 19-18 at the same point. The Mules (6-2) won the three sets, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-18, for their fourth home shutout in the last week.

Sophomore Christina Marcin led a balanced offensive attack with 8 kills, while freshmen Sierra Addy and Kelliann Keogh added 6 apiece.

Addy and classmate Natalia Agnolet teamed up on a block late in the first set with the score 20-17, and after a service ace by junior Esmae Oehler (pictured above), kills by Addy, senior Isabella Pontrelli and Addy ended the set.

Two late kills by Marcin and one each by Pontrelli and junior Rachel Jacobs helped Muhlenberg finish out the second set.

The Mules scored the first eight points of the third set, but the Falcons (4-2) clawed their way back and got to within a point at 19-18. Muhlenberg finished with a flourish, scoring the final six points on offense, including a kill by senior Alyssa Faville, an ace by freshman Jenny Ryan, and four kills by Keogh – including the final three points of the match.

Faville pulled up a match-high 17 digs.
