After three close sets, the Muhlenberg volleyball team ran away with the fourth set to post a 3-1 win against Ursinus.

The win was the second straight for the Mules (9-7, 2-2), who held the Bears (11-4, 1-2) to .084 hitting. The Mules, who lead the Centennial Conference in digs per set, are 9-1 when holding their opponents under .200 hitting.

On offense, sophomore Esmae Oehler (16) and junior Isabella Pontrelli (10) reached double figures in kills. Senior Emma Eglinton finished with 42 assists.

Muhlenberg trailed 9-5 early in the first set but came back to take an 11-9 lead behind the serving of senior Caleya Tereska. Later in the set, Tereska served during a 4-0 run that put the Mules ahead for good at 21-19. It was 24-23 when sophomore Rachel Jacobs put down a kill to finish off the set.

The Mules trailed by four again in the second set, at 17-13, but again rallied to win. Ursinus led 22-21 before Muhlenberg scored the next three points, and a kill by Pontrelli gave the Mules their second straight 25-23 win.

In the wild third set, Muhlenberg saved three set points, then had a set point of its own at 26-25 before the Bears scored three in a row to stay alive in the match.

The fourth set was playing as another tight one, with Muhlenberg clinging to an 18-16 lead. Then the Mules ran off seven straight points to suddenly end the match. Junior Christina Dalton recorded back-to-back kills during the run, and Maguire (pictured above) recorded a kill for the final point.
