STANFORD, Calif. – Opposite Moses Wagner has been named the Defensive Player of the Week in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) for the first time in his career.
Wagner led Stanford defensively in a pair of wins at Vanguard last week, averaging 1.57 digs and 1.14 blocks per set. The opposite also turned in 4.29 kills on .446 hitting, 0.57 aces and 5.50 points per set.
Wagner recorded a team-best 14 kills, two aces, two blocks and six digs in a four-set win on Friday. He followed up with five digs and matched his career-high with six blocks in a sweep over the Lions on Saturday. He also had a match-high 16 kills on a season-best .538 attack percentage and two aces.
It is the second time this season that Wagner has been honored by the MPSF after picking up his first career Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Jan. 13.
No. 8 Stanford plays host to UC Merced on Friday and No. 14 UC San Diego on Saturday to close out its nonconference schedule. Both matches begin at 6 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
