FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Women’s Volleyball team was able to bounce back after a tough loss Friday night, sweeping Dickinson State Saturday afternoon 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 for their first conference win of the season.
The Blue Hawks were able to out-kill and block the Warriors in Set 1, but the Warriors had only three hitting errors. The middle duo of Abygail Wood (SR/Ankeny, IA) and Charlotte Wright (JR/Porter, MN) had a combined total of seven kills, with only one error.
Set 2, Waldorf’s defense showed up big with four blocks and 15 digs, keeping Dickinson State with only six kills. Kenzie Kidd (JR/Roscoe, IL) added five kills with Wood getting four and four block assists. Kaitlyn Bakke led the offense with 13 assists.
The Warriors started Set 3 with a 9-0 run. Kidd had five kills on 13 attempts and Alisha Schaefer (JR/Mount Calvary, WI) added six digs. “It’s nice to get back to our winning ways and I’m proud that we were able to use a lot of our student-athletes in today’s match,” Head Coach Bri Ebenhoe said. “I thought we brought a nice composure and energy to the match and we are excited to get better in practice.”
Kenzie Kidd finished the match with 13 kills, Wood added eight with four block assists, and Wright added six kills. Schaefer and Kaylee Kidd (JR/Roscoe, IL) had 14 and 13 digs, respectfully. Bakke finished with 32 assists and nine digs.
The Warriors are now 9-3 overall, 1-2 in conference play. Next up is another pair of conference matches, starting with Presentation College on Friday, September 30th in Aberdeen, South Dakota followed by Mayville on Saturday.
