ANKENY, Iowa – The Waldorf volleyball team was on the road again going up against Faith Baptist Bible College on Friday at 7pm. The Warriors swept the Eagles 25-22, 25-15, 25-15.
The Warriors started out strong in the first set with a 4-0 run with 2 service aces from sophomore setter, Rachel Watson (Littleton, CO/Thunder Ridge HS) and two kills, one from junior middle hitter, Aby Wood (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny Centennial HS) and Laina Yurs (South Beloit, IL/Hononegah HS) sophomore right side. The Eagles kept it close, but the Warriors went on to win set 1 25-22.
Set 2 started out the same way, with a 5-0 run. Alisha Schaefer (Mount Calvary, WI/New Holstein HS), junior outside hitter, led the way in the 2nd set with 6 kills. The Warriors won set 2, 25-15. Junior DS, Kaylee Kidd (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah HS) led the way in set 3 with 4 service aces, the team finished with 9 aces. The Warriors went on to win set 3, 25-15.
Rachel Watson ended the game with 31 assists, Laina Yurs and Alisha Schaefer both got 9 kills, on 18 and 19 attempts respectively. Defensively, Kaylee Kid and Rachel Watson led the way with each getting 12 digs.
The volleyball team move to 3-0. Next up for the Warriors is the William Penn University Tournament September 2-3.
