Warriors Bested by FDU on the Road

Merrimack College women’s volleyball stayed on the road, as they made their way over to New Jersey to take on Fairleigh Dickenson University. FDU came up with the win in three sets over Merrimack. Leading for the Warriors in kills were Kayla Zinser with eight and Sydney Green with seven.

Notes and Notables:

  • First set finished with a score of 25-16 in favor of the Knights. The Warriors had several players contribute in big ways during the set, including Kayla Zinser with five kills, and Sydney Green with four.
  • Warriors came out strong in the second set, taking the point advantage early. The pace then became a back and forth between the two teams, before the Warriors went on a four-point run. FDU eventually went on a lengthy multi-point run to hold the Warriors for the remainder of the set. Brooke Leestma added four kills for her team.
  • Third set began similarly to the last, with a back and forth on the scoreboard, but FDU kept the upper-hand by maintaining lead throughout, with the help of Warrior errors. Warriors gained momentum mid-way through the sets, taking advantage of FDU errors and having a multi-point run of their own, but FDU came right back to their previous pace to close it out.
