KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After four straight road contests, the 15th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols are back at Food City Center for a two-match series against Western Michigan to round out non-conference play.
The Lady Vols (5-3) host the Broncos (4-5) this Thursday at 6 p.m. ET and Friday at 2 p.m. ET. Both matches will be streamed on SEC Network+. An important note to fans planning to attend Friday’s contest, UT’s Paid Concert Parking will be in effect for the Morgan Wallen concert that night, beginning at 7 a.m. Without a pre-paid concert parking pass, you will not be able to park on campus lots.
If fans arrive early to campus for Friday’s show but don’t have tickets to volleyball, they can present their concert tickets at the ticket office window at Food City Center to receive free admission general admission to the match.
Tennessee, who has won five of its last six matches, currently holds a 5-2 record against Western Michigan. This will be the first matchup between the teams since 2017, when the Lady Vols won in four sets. The Broncos are led by head coach Colleen Munson, the winningest coach in program history. This season, WMU has beaten No. 24 Marquette along with a sweep against Michigan State.
The Broncos had one of their best seasons in program history in 2023 by winning the MAC Regular Season and Tournament titles, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos are led by a pair of fifth years in outside hitter Keona Salesman and setter Logan Case. Salesman has 133 kills on the season hitting .247 and was named to the 2023 All-MAC Second Team and MAC Championship All-Tournament Team. Case has 385 assists this season and is averaging 11.67 per set. Last season, she was named a 2023 VolleyballMag.com Third Team All-American and the MAC Player of the Year.
Earlier on Thursday, redshirt sophomore setter Caroline Kerr was tabbed to the AVCA’s inaugural 2024 Division I Player of the Year Award watch list. She enjoyed a breakout year in the 2023 season, earning Second Team All-America honors from the AVCA. She finished the season averaging 11.75 assists, 1.98 digs, 0.66 kills, 0.38 blocks and 0.31 aces per set. This season, Kerr earned SEC Player and Setter of the Week honors during week two and recently surpassed the 1,500 career assists mark in the match against Wofford.
