Weekend Opener Brings the Huskies to MKA

EUGENE, Ore. – In the nation’s lone ranked matchup of the weekend, the 16^th-ranked Oregon volleyball team hosts No. 19 Washington Friday evening at Matthew Knight Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m. (PT) and can be watched on the UO Live Stream. In support of breast cancer awareness and the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute, fans are encouraged to wear pink to the arena.
 
The Ducks enter the weekend at 15-5 overall and 9-3 in Pac-12 play, and sit in sole possession of second place in the conference standings. Both weekend opponents—Washington and Washington State—are 8-4 in league play and tied with USC for third in the Pac-12. Oregon hosts the Cougars Sunday at 12 p.m. on Pac-12 Oregon.

In addition to their No. 16 ranking in the AVCA coaches’ poll, the Ducks are 10^th in the Oct. 30 release of the NCAA Division I Committee top-10 list and check in at No. 14 in the latest NCAA RPI. The 2022 NCAA Selection Show will be Sunday, Nov. 27, on ESPNU.

Oregon extended its winning streak to five with a straight-set win over Arizona State (Oct. 30) in Tempe. Senior standout Brooke Nuneviller led all players with 20 kills, committing just one error in 37 swings for a .514 hitting percentage. Collectively, the Ducks hit .357 in the sweep, the team’s 11^th showing this year at .300 or higher.

Friday’s matchup will feature the top-two offenses in the Pac-12 with Washington (.294) ranked first in the conference just ahead of Oregon’s .288 efficiency. The teams are also ranked seventh and 11^th in the NCAA, respectively. Sunday’s opponent, Washington State, enters the weekend with a .268 figure which is fifth in the Pac-12 and a top-25 mark in the nation.

Oregon served up 17 aces during last weekend’s road trip including a season-high nine aces at Arizona (Oct. 28). Mimi Colyer and Elise Agi combined for 11 of the Ducks’ 17 service winners in the desert. On the season, UO has six players with double-digit aces including three with at least 20. Colyer (24) paces that trio that also features Elise Ferreira (21) and Brooke Nuneviller (20). The Ducks are fifth in the Pac-12 with 1.47 aces per set.
