COLUMBIA, Mo. – Tennessee volleyball concludes a four-match road trip this Sunday afternoon with a contest against the Missouri Tigers at the Hearnes Center.
First serve for the matchup will be at 3 p.m. ET, and fans can stream the match on SEC Network+. The Lady Vols have won each of the last three contests and five of the last six against the Tigers, but Mizzou leads the all time series 11-10.
The Big Orange is coming off a win over Mississippi State last Sunday. The Lady Vols (9-5, 2-2 SEC) had the hot hand offensively, finishing with 43 kills on .351 hitting to go along with 41 assists and eight aces. On the defensive side, Tennessee held the Bulldogs, entered the weekend ranked sixth nationally in kills per set, to just 33 kills on .184 hitting thanks to 44 digs and six blocks.
Tennessee’s offense is led by the trio of graduate outside hitter Nina Cajic, junior middle blocker Keondreya Granberry and redshirt sophomore setter Caroline Kerr. Cajic ranks seventh nationally and second in the SEC in kills per set at 4.69, and she’s the only player in the conference to boast two 30-plus kill efforts this year.
Granberry has been a force on UT’s defense for years, but now, she’s enjoying a breakout season on the offensive end. She’s the national leader in hitting percentage at .505, and she ranks second on the team in kills with 113. Guiding the offense is Kerr, who was tabbed to the AVCA’s National Player of the Year watch list. She’s averaging 10.65 assists per set, which ranks 17th in the country and third in the conference.
The Tigers are 10-5 on the year and boast one of the nation’s top scoring offenses, ranking fourth overall in hitting percentage (.307), sixth in kills per set (14.32), seventh in assists per set (13.38) and 11th in aces per set (2.08). Missouri is led by outside hitter Jordan Iliff, who leads the SEC and ranks third in the country in aces with 41. She also ranks inside the top 100 in the nation in kills per set (84th/3.72), while fellow outside Mychael Vernon rounds out the dynamic offense ranked 49th with 4.00 kills per set.
After Sunday’s matchup, the Lady Vols return home for a pair of home contests against ranked opponents in No. 12 Kentucky and No. 25 Auburn. Tennessee’s match against the Wildcats will be an “Orange Out” so fans are encouraged to wear orange and pack out Food City Center for the big-time game on Wednesday night at 6:30.
