Weekend Road Trip to Colorado, Utah


EUGENE, Ore. – The fifth-ranked Oregon volleyball team is on the road this weekend with matches at Colorado and Utah. Through the first 15 matches of the season, the Ducks carry a 13-2 overall record with a 3-1 mark in Pac-12 play. Friday match against the Buffaloes will play out on Pac-12 Oregon.

Series Info vs Colorado
The Ducks enter Friday’s match having won the past six head-to-head meetings with Colorado. Overall, Oregon owns a 19-7 advantage in the all-time series and has won eight of 12 in Boulder. Seven of the past eight meetings on the Buffs’ home court have gone at least four sets including last year’s five setter where UO completed a reverse sweep.
 
Series Info vs Utah
Oregon swept both matches last season including a 3-1 win in Salt Lake City last November. The Ducks lead Utah, 18-10, in the all-time series with eight road victories in 13 tries. Last year’s victory in SLC was Oregon’s first since the 2017 season.
 
In the Polls
Oregon is up to No. 5 in the most recent AVCA poll, its first in-season top five since November 2012. The Ducks join fellow Pac-12 teams Stanford (3) and Washington (4) in the top five. Oregon also checks in at No. 4 in the first RPI release of October, once again surrounded by the Cardinal and Cougars.
 
Starts with a Serve
The Ducks had a season-high 10 service aces in their four-set win over Washington (Sept. 29). Hannah Pukis tied her career high with four while Gabby Gonzales added three. All four of Pukis’ aces came in the closing moments of the second including the set clincher that found the back line to even things at 1-1. Oregon has five players with at least 10 aces: Colyer (22), McClellan (17), Pukis (15), Gonzales (11) and Murphy (10).
 
Milestone Watch
With her fourth block against Washington State (Oct. 1), senior middle Kara McGhee tallied the 600th block of her career. She is second on the active career leaders list with 602 blocks between her time with Baylor (2019-22) and Oregon. McGhee enters the weekend second in the Pac-12 and 19th in the NCAA with 1.40 blocks per set.
 
Last Time Out
Oregon had its 20-match home winning streak snapped with a four-set loss to then-No. 7 Washington State (Oct. 1). Morgan Lewis had a team-high 13 kills and Hannah Pukis recorded her ninth-consecutive double-double with 42 assists and 15 digs. The top-10…
