Volleyball coaches do some weird stuff.
I can only assume they think it has some kind of value. Otherwise, why would they do it?
Yes, fun counts as a reason – and it’s a legitimate one. Let’s constrain ourselves to activities that at least appear to be focused on skill development, though.
I recently came across a video of a training session where teenage male players started on one knee, passed an easy tossed ball, then proceeded to do a shoulder roll on a mat, finishing again in a kneeling position to pass another ball. Roll back to start position. Repeat.
I could share the video, but I don’t want to specifically call out the club, coach(es), or players involved.
Do you get it? Because I don’t.
I already have big questions about the knee passing thing. Now you’re adding rolling? What exactly is the point? Please leave a comment if you have a clue.
