TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona was swept by No. 3 Stanford (23-25, 17-25, 22-25) to open the second half of Pac-12 play.
Jordan Wilson led the Wildcats with 11 kills and a .381 hitting percentage. Alayna Johnson and Sofia Maldonado Diaz each had seven kills. Ana Heath served four aces for Arizona.
Stanford won Set 1, 25-23. Arizona had an eight-point lead at 17-9 until the Cardinal came back to win the set. Johnson led the Wildcats with five kills while Maldonado Diaz had four kills and one solo block.
The Cardinal took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 win in Set 2. Despite Stanford not recording any blocks in Set 2, Arizona only hit .081. Wilson had four kills and hit .429 but it wasn’t enough for Arizona to win the set.
The Wildcats fell in Set 3, 25-22, to lose the match. Wilson had four kills again and Sydnie Vanek followed with three kills. Stanford totaled four blocks and served five aces to hold the lead the whole set.
Arizona will face California on Sunday, October 29 at 12 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
