EVANSTON, Ill. – The ‘Cats will host Maryland and Purdue in a weekend doubleheader for their last games in Welsh-Ryan Arena for the 2021 season.
Northwestern will face the Terrapins on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Boilermakers on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Wildcats are coming off a two loss weekend against top ten teams, No. 10 Ohio State and No. 4 Wisconsin. In both matches the ‘Cats were able to take the first set off their opponents and featured strong performances from Temi Thomas-Ailara and Hanna Lesiak.
Thomas-Ailara dropped 15 and 14 kills against the Buckeyes and the Badgers respectively. Lesiak followed just behind with 12 and 11 kills, in addition to three blocks in both games.
Charlotte Cronister had a standout performance against Ohio State, slamming down a career high five aces. Meanwhile Leilani Dodson shone against Wisconsin, posting 10 kills, five blocks and two aces.
The last time Northwestern faced the Boilermakers, they dropped the match 3-0 in West Lafayette. Thomas-Ailara led the ‘Cats with 15 kills and eight digs.
On the flip side, the Wildcats were able to take down Maryland in a five set thriller at College Park. Thomas-Ailara, Lesiak and Dodson led the Northwestern offense with 16, 15 and 11 kills respectively.
