Wildcats Swept by No. 7 Stanford

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats were swept by No. 7 Stanford, 23-25, 22-25, 16-25, on Friday night in McKale Center.
 
Sofia Maldonado Diaz led Arizona with 13 kills with a .320 clip. Puk Stubbe followed with six kills and a .455 hitting percentage. Ana Heath served two aces to lead the Wildcats.   
 
Stanford won the first set, 25-23. Arizona hit .409 on 22 swings in the set, but Stanford recorded more kills than the Wildcats. Jaelyn Hodge tallied four kills and Maldonado Diaz had three kills.  
 
The Cardinal took Set 2, 25-22. Stanford out-hit and out-killed Arizona to win the set. Maldonado Diaz led the Wildcats with five kills and Stubbe followed with four kills.  
 
Stanford won the match with a 25-16 win in Set 3. Maldonado Diaz had five kills and hit .333 in the set, but Stanford opened the third set on a 6-0 run and Arizona couldn’t catch up.
 
Arizona will host California on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
