Wilson Totals 13 Kills in Loss to UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Arizona was swept by UCLA on Sunday afternoon (23-25, 22-25, 20-25) in Pauley Pavilion.
 
Jordan Wilson tallied 13 kills while hitting .550 and four blocks for the Wildcats. Jaelyn Hodge recorded 11 kills and Nicole Briggs led Arizona’s defense with seven blocks.
 
The opening set went to UCLA, 23-25. Hodge led Arizona’s attack with five kills while Sofia Maldonado Diaz and Wilson followed with four kills each. Wilson hit .800 and totaled three blocks for the Cats. Arizona held the lead for the entire set until UCLA rallied in the final two points to win the set.  
 
Arizona lost the second set, 22-25. Despite the Wildcats out-hitting and out-blocking the Bruins, Arizona never took the lead to win the set. Wilson totaled seven kills and hit .545 to lead Arizona and Hodge followed with five kills. Briggs had three of Arizona’s four blocks.
 
The Wildcats lost Set 3, 20-25, to lose the match. Arizona took a three -point lead over UCLA halfway through the set, but the Bruins went on a 5-0 run to take the lead. Five Wildcats had kills in the third set, led by Maldonado Diaz with four kills. Sydnie Vanek tallied three kills and hit .400.
 
The Wildcats will begin a two-week homestand as they host Utah on Thursday, November 9 and Colorado on Saturday, November 11.
