Wisconsin Captures 2022 Big Ten Conference Volleyball Title

ROSEMONT, Ill. (Nov. 25, 2022) — The third-ranked University of Wisconsin volleyball team clinched the 2022 Big Ten Conference championship Friday with a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19) victory over No. 5 Nebraska at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb. The Badgers claimed their fourth consecutive Big Ten title and their ninth overall, as well as the conference’s automatic qualification into the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin (24-3, 18-1 Big Ten) is the second school in Big Ten volleyball history to win four consecutive Big Ten titles (all of which have been outright championships) and the first since Penn State won eight in a row from 2003-10. PSU also had a string of four Big Ten titles in a row from 1996-99.

Wisconsin junior middle blocker/right side Devyn Robinson had a match-high 16 kills in Friday’s clinching win at Nebraska, leading a balanced attack for the Badgers, who had five players finish with at least eight kills and extend their current winning streak to 17 matches. The Huskers (24-4, 16-3) were led by senior middle blocker Kaitlyn Hord, who recorded 13 kills and hit .500 for the match.

The final matches of the 2022 Big Ten Conference volleyball regular season schedule will be played Saturday, including a nationally televised doubleheader on the Big Ten Network as Wisconsin travels to No. 6 Ohio State (7 p.m. ET) and ninth-ranked Minnesota visits Nebraska (9 p.m. ET). Both matches can also be seen on the FOX Sports app.

The 64-team field for the 2022 NCAA Tournament will be announced at 7:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday live on ESPNU.
