Women's Volleyball Adds Chudear Tut for 2022 Season

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women’s volleyball head coach Linda Hampton-Keith has announced the signing of transfer Chudear Tut for the upcoming 2022 season.

Tut comes to Temple from Coppin State, where she played in 29 matches over the last two seasons for the Eagles.

“We are looking forward to adding Chudear to our team as we expect her to immediately impact on the court for us in the middle blocker position.  Adding a great person and athlete like Chudear who has been recognized as a Conference Freshman of the Year will only upgrade our ability to compete and boost our depth at the middle blocker position.” Hampton-Keith added. “We are thrilled to partner with Chudear to continue her career here as an Owl and anticipate she will contribute to transforming Temple Volleyball culturally and competitively.”

In the spring season of 2020-21, Tut was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Rookie of the Year, All-MEAC Second Team, and MEAC All-Tournament Team. In addition, the Minneapolis, Minn. native was voted as a five-time MEAC Rookie of the Week in the spring that season, where she was one of three players on CSU to play in all 16 matches. She led the team with 56 blocks, while hitting .330, which ranked fourth and sixth-best in the MEAC. In addition, Tut’s 151 kills ranked second on the team and sixth in the conference.

Last season, Tut played in the last 13 of the Eagle’s 28 matches after battling through injury throughout the first half of the 2021. The middle blocker started 11 matches, finishing with 98 kills and had a school-record .353 hitting percentage. In her second match of the season, Tut fell one kill shy of her career-high when she blasted 13 kills against Howard on Oct. 10, 2021, and fell one block shy of a career-high in the Oct. 17 match versus Delaware State when she stuffed six Hornet attacks.

A First Team All-State selection as a senior at Hopkins High School, Tut earned All-League honors in all four of her seasons. She helped the Royals to the state tournament in 2017 and a sectional final in 2019. Tut was selected to the AVCA Phenom List and JVA Watchlist and played for Club 43 Volleyball, where she was coached by former Division I All-American Annie Adamczak-Glavan.
