Women’s Volleyball Beaten by Rhode Island

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI. – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team fell on the road in non-conference play, to the University of Rhode Island Rams in four sets.

Score: URI 3, Merrimack 1
Records: Merrimack (0-7, 0-0), URI (2-5, 0-0)
 
How It Happened
Merrimack and URI battled in a tight first set which saw the Warriors jump out to an early 4-0 and 10-4 leads before the Rams came back to end up winning the set 25-23. After URI also took the 2nd set, the Warriors dominated the 3rd set 25-14, led by Lilly Konrad’s 4 aces, which helped spark the big set from the Warriors. Merrimack and Rhode Island would go back and forth for most of the 4th set before the Rams pulled away by scoring 5 straight points to take a 21-14 lead, which proved too much for the Warriors to come back from.
