Women’s Volleyball Bested by Holy Cross

The Merrimack women’s volleyball team was bested by the Holy Cross Crusaders on Friday, September 13th at Hammel Court.

 

Score: Holy Cross 3, Merrimack 0

Record: Holy Cross 2-6, Merrimack 1-8

 

How it Happened:

This Friday night matchup had an electric atmosphere with fans from both sides cheering on their respective squads. The first set was a back and forth duel with each team trading points. The Crusaders would win an exciting set 1 in extra time by a score of 27-25 that ended with a replay review. In set 2, Holy Cross would gain an early lead. Shortly after, the Warriors would tie the set 6-6. Further along in the set, the Crusaders would once again get the advantage going up 13-8. The Warriors would answer right back, once again tying the set at 13 apiece. After another back and forth second half, the Crusaders would win the second set 25-19. The third set saw the Crusaders picking up where they left off, going up 7-1 right away. Merrimack would show resiliency by putting up more points to make it close late and tie the set at 22. The latter half of set 3 would become a barnburner with both teams exchanging points and the crowd engaged in every point. After an entertaining overtime, Holy Cross would continue their entourage and go on to win the third set 32-30.
