Women’s Volleyball Captures Second Season Sweep of Opponent With Win Over Le Moyne

LORETTO, PA – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team swept the weekend with a win over Le Moyne in dominant fashion.

The Basics

Score: Le Moyne 0, Merrimack 3

Records: Le Moyne (1-18, 1-8) , Merrimack (6-15, 5-4)

How It Happened

Merrimack kept it rolling with a dominating win over the Dolphins of Le Moyne. The first set was tight up until midway where it was tied after a handful of Le Moyne scores. The Warriors then went off with scoring 9 of the final 11 points and cruising to a 25-18 set one win.

The second set was all Dolphins early as they went up 6-1. Credit to Merrimack for fighting back and taking advantage. The Warriors found themselves down 8-3 but would come roaring back. Merrimack outscored Le Moyne 22-11 to finish the second set and once again win it 25-18. 

With a 2 sets to 0 advantage Ray Lewis’ team looked to shut the door on the Dolphins and the weekend. The third set was the closest as both teams capitalized on mistakes and executed on the attack. Merrimack would go on a 4-0 run midway through the set to take a comfortable lead at 19-14 and didn’t look back as they went on to secure the sweep and win 25-21.

Merrimack will get a break from NEC play with a midweek match against former NEC foe, Bryant, Wednesday the 25th in Smithfield, RI.
