NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women’s volleyball team clinched their first ever MAAC playoff slot after a thrilling home victory against the Siena College Saints. In his first year at the Mack, Head Coach Ken Nichols successfully guided the team to a playoff spot, elevating the teams performance to be competitive in the new conference .
How it Happened
After dropping their last three home matches, the Warriors looked to top Marist and Siena to secure a spot in the MAAC Conference Playoffs. Merrimack had the Red Foxes battling to the brink in a thrilling five set matchup, ending in a celebration for the Warriors. Mckenna Shotwell paved the way for the Warriors with a powerful double-double, featuring 16 kills and 10 digs. Julz Carlat also tallied double-digit kills, with 11 on the day. Sophia DeBonis paced all Warriors with 19 assists and 4 service aces to close out the win. The Warriors carried this energy into Sunday’s match against Siena. Their defense shined, as they stifled the Saints offensive efforts by registering 10 total blocks. Merrimack also had seven service aces on the day, with Lilly Konrad leading in the category. The Warriors were weekend winners picking up a critical 3-1 win over Siena. With two back-to-back home wins, the Warriors earned a spot in the MAAC Conference Tournament.

The Warriors prepare for two more conference matchups against Manhattan University and Iona University before heading to Albany, NY for the MAAC Volleyball Tournament on November 21. The Tournament will be held at the UHY Center at Siena College.
