Women’s Volleyball Defeated by Central Connecticut

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team lost a Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup on Saturday night against Central Connecticut State University.

Rapid Recap

  • The Blue Devils jumped out to an early four point lead. The Warriors then battled back with five points of their own. Maalese Wallace had two kills in the run. Later on in the set Central Connecticut found themselves up by eight. Merrimack tried to comeback, but the Blue Devils were too much, winning the first set.
  • The Warriors went up by one after a Lauryn Mattiucci kill. Central Connecticut added three points. Wallace ended the run with a kill. The Blue Devils rattled off five points to go up six. Merrimack answered with five points. Two were kills from Cate Wright. The Warriors cut the lead to one after back-to-back service aces from Megan Larson. A kill by Sydney Green gave Merrimack 20 points. Central Connecticut scored the last three points to win set two.
  • The scoreboard read 12-9 for the home team after a kill from Wallace. Merrimack then took the lead after scoring five straight points. The Blue Devils matched the run with four points of their own to go up by three. Hannah Webber ended the run with a kill. Wright had a kill, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils scored the last three points to win the set.
