NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team won their first conference match of the season against the Saint Peter’s University Peacocks.

How It Happened
The Warriors came out strong in the first set taking a 13-5 lead over the Peacocks. Sophia DeBonis would deliver consecutive service aces to put the Warriors up 17-6. Merrimack was able to keep this momentum throughout the set and would win 25-13. The second set began neck and neck, until the Peacocks were able to find their ground, extending a 10-6 lead on the Warriors. The Warriors continued to fight, tying the score 16-16 but ultimately were unable to get past the Peacock’s lineup and would drop the second set 25-21.
The Warriors bounced back in the third set, quickly extending a 10-4 lead over the Peacocks. Lilly Konrad paced all Warriors, setting up the final slew of kills to win the third set, 25-18. The energy in Hammel Court began to ramp up during the fourth and final set of the match. Both teams traded points for the majority of the set until the Peacocks started to extend their lead in the latter half of the set. The Warriors would persevere with kills coming from Julz Carlat and Hannah Webber to take the lead from Saint Peter’s. Their determination proved to be too much for the Peacocks as the Warriors won the set 28-26.
