How It Happened
Merrimack was able to start the math with a lead before UNH quickly tied it. The team traded leads with Wildcats going up as much as six at 18-12. The Warriors were able to claw back and ultimately end up winning the first set 27-25 headlined by some great play by Julz Carlat and Cate Wright.
The second set was very closely contested up until the very end. UNH had a 20-18 lead but was able to pull away by scoring five of the final six points. They would tie the match up at one a piece with a 25-19 set two victory.
The third set was similar to the second. Both teams were going back and forth and each had chances to take advantage. It was tied at 15 before UNH took a slight edge. They then broke it wide open by scoring the final six points of the set to win 25-17.
The fourth set was not particularly close as Merrimack looked to force a fifth and final set. UNH was able to match each of the Warriors points and more in many instances. MC looked to fight back into it but the Wildcats scored 8 of the final 10 points to put the match away 25-15 and walk away with a 3 sets to 1 win.
