NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack College women’s volleyball traveled to Connecticut to take on the CCSU Blue Devils, and despite a strong third set performance, were defeated 3-0. 

The Basics:

Score: Central Connecticut State 3, Merrimack 0 (25-10| 25-18 | 25-22)

Records: Merrimack (0-28, 0-13 NEC) | Central Connecticut State (9-16,  6-7 NEC)

Location: New Britain, C.T. 

Set Breakdown:

  • It was a tough set for the Warriors on the offensive front, but they were able to capitalize on CCSU errors and were supported by two kills by Brooke Leestma 
  • Warriors came into the second set with something to prove. It was a more balanced team effort in this set, with 6 players earning kills, but the Blue Devils came away with the win, bringing them to a 2-0 advantage. 
  • Warriors had a huge comeback push in the last set, being down by as many as 6 points and even taking the lead later in the set. This strength was maintained to the very end, but the Blue Devils had more in the tank to take the win

The Warriors have the last game of the season tomorrow against Sacred Heart at 6:00 pm.
