NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack Women’s Volleyball team fell to NEC opponent LIU in three sets in the second to last home game of the 2023 season.

How It Happened
Merrimack was coming off of a midweek loss to UNH and looked to bounce back against a team they had fell to early this season in LIU. Both teams had a 6-4 conference record so this one was massively important for both squads. The first set was even early on and into the middle of the set. However, the Sharks scoring eight of ten points put them in front and they never looked back. LIU would coast to a 25-18 set one win.
The second set was the closest of them all. The Warriors would get it started pouncing on the Sharks but it was LIU striking back with a five to nothing run just moments later. The rest of the set was closely contested with neither team getting a huge edge over the other. LIU would score four straight to go up 22-17 but credit Ray Lewis’ team for battling back as they scored six of the next 7 to tie it up at 23 a piece as they looked to avoid a two sets zero deficit. Unfortunately, it would be LIU closing it out with the final two points to go up two sets to zero.
Merrimack looked to avoid a second straight 3-0 sweep with this 3rd set against LIU. However, it was all Sharks all set long. The set was headlined by a 7 point LIU barrage. After that it was too large of a hole and the Warriors were unable to climb…
