NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack Women’s Volleyball team lost in three sets to UNH in a midweek non conference matchup.

How It Happened
These two teams played for the second time this year, this time at Merrimack. The first set was a barn burner. It had a little bit of everything; great defense, blistering kills, and a plentiful amount of energy. It started with Merrimack leading 7-2 before the Wildcats came back. It was even at multiple points throughout the set at 12, 16, and 22. UNH had a slight edge at 23-22 before two quick points from Merrimack headlined by an Ashley Gajdzik ace. However, UNH would go on to score 4 of the final 5 points and claim a set one victory 27-25.
Merrimack started the second set hot with four straight points to open it up. They would continue to build upon the lead at 11-5. UNH would dig themselves out of the hole to make it close and then proceed to go on a shocking run. The Wildcats scored 10 of the final 12 points and went up two sets to none on a 25-19 win.
The Warriors looked to avoid the sweep in this third set. MC clawed and scraped all set long. They were up 8-4 early on but a 9-1 run by UNH put the Wildcats ahead on the Warriors at 13-9. A seven to two run by Merrimack saw them jump back in front. Once again there was a lead change as UNH took control at 23-19.
