NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. — The Merrimack College Women’s volleyball team fell in 3 sets to Bryant in their home opener at Hammel Court.

How It Happened
Bryant came out of the gates firing on all cylinders with a 5 point stretch to start. With that cushion the Bulldogs were able to build upon it with a 8-1 lead. The teams went back and forth before Merrimack pulled within reach by scoring 9 out of 10 points midway through the set to trail by just a single point at 17-16. Bryant responded by scoring 7 of the final 9 points in the set and took a 1-0 lead by winning 25-19.
The second set was non stop action as the Warriors went up big early with a 11-4 lead on the back of the stellar play of Hannah Webber. Webber had 3 kills in that stretch as she and Merrimack looked poised to rob a set from the Bulldogs, tying the game up at one a piece. However, a flurry of points from the black and gold made this second set quite interesting before taking over completely at the end and scoring 4 of the final 5 points, coming away with a second set 25-22 nailbiter victory.
The third and final set of the match started with the two teams trading points and leads. Bryant then went on a quick 4-0 run to put them ahead. After that there was no looking back for the Bulldogs as they found themselves capitalizing on Merrimack errors and continued to rack up points, putting the set out of reach.
