Women’s Volleyball Loses Final Match of Harvard Invitational

University of Rhode Island

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team was unable to come away with the win against former NEC foe Stonehill in the final match of the Harvard Invitational. The Warriors captured the first two sets before falling in the next three.

The Basics
Score: Stonehill 3, Merrimack 2
Records: Merrimack (0-6, 0-0), Stonehill (2-5, 0-0)

How It Happened
Merrimack and Stonehill we’re neck and neck for most of the first set until the Warriors we’re able to pull away late. They would capture a first set victory and followed that up with a nail biting second set win, 25-23, behind the stellar play of the Julz Carlat, Hannah Webber tandem. Merrimack held the 2 sets to none lead and looked to put it away for their first win of the year. Stonehill would have other plans winning each of the next two sets with their backs against the wall to force a fifth and final set. This would be the Warriors second five setter of the day. The Skyhawks held all the momentum heading into the fifth set. Merrimack would suppress that momentum coming out on fire going up 4-1. Stonehill would respond with 6 straight points and would end up putting the finishing touches on a comeback win. The Warriors were not able to pick up a win in their three matches at the Harvard Invitational.
