THE ACTION
- Heinrich’s kill kept Saint Michael’s within 5-3 in the opening set before six of the next seven points went to the Greyhounds, with the lead eventually bulging to 19-8. Four aces, including three in a row by Curley, keyed the visitors rallying within 24-17, but Goodhue dropped a kill to clinch the set.
- Assumption scored the first four points of set No. 2, eventually leading 13-2. The Purple Knights were only outscored 12-11 from there, as Syverson notched three kills in that time.
- The Purple Knights led by a point three times early in the third set, twice on Gallagher kills, before a 4-0 run later gave the Greyhounds an 11-6 advantage. Another Gallagher kill made it 13-10, and she put down another kill to keep Saint Michael’s within 16-12 before an ensuing error gave the hosts a five-point lead, and they never again led by fewer than four points.
