CAMBRIDGE, MA- The Merrimack Women’s Volleyball team lost in three straight sets to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats in the Harvard Invitational.

 

The Basics:

Score: UNH 3, Merrimack 0

Records: UNH 2-2, Merrimack 0-4

 

Rapid Recap

The Warriors would jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set courtesy of Hannah Webber. UNH would catch up shortly after and the two teams traded points throughout the set. The Warriors showed grit throughout, tying the score and taking the lead multiple times. Despite their effort, the Warriors would lose the first set 25-18. The second set was more competitive, with Merrimack’s McKenna Shotwell keeping the Warriors in the game with a series of kills. Merrimack would command the lead halfway through the set and kept it rolling with help from Marissa Kolbeski and Hannah Webber. However, the Wildcats would take a late lead and win set 2 by a score of 25-23. The teams battled back and forth again with strong showings in the third set, but UNH would narrowly defeat the Warriors again 25-22.

Up Next

The Warriors return to action on September 7th for the continuation of the Harvard Invitational. They have a doubleheader against the Harvard Crimson (1PM) and the Stonehill Skyhawks (4PM). Both games will be on ESPN+ with the game against Harvard also being featured on NESN.
